The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has issued a strong statement condemning the use of Tilly Norwood, an AI-generated virtual actress built using unlicensed performances from multiple real actors.
The union argues that such models “blur the line between creativity and exploitation,” stressing the need for safeguards that prevent digital replicas from using an artist’s identity without consent. The controversy has reignited debate about the future of acting in an age where AI can simulate facial expressions, emotional delivery, and voice.
SAG-AFTRA insists that creativity must remain grounded in human authorship and ethical practice.
